Thanks Simon
Some more pics
One of the 'problems' is that this bunch do not tolerate a speck of rust.  So everything has to be cut back to good metal
S'pose better in the long run...

Great to see another UK spec Fulvia being restored. It would be easy (and perhaps financially more  sensible) to let these cars go to the scrapyard and instead import rust-free cars from Italy or South Africa. Thankfully there are those of us crazy enough to undertake the rebuilding of cars that show the wear and tear of over 40 UK winters!  Good to have a healthy mix of UK and Euro-spec cars in the club.

Thanks Brian - thats actually more useful than you think
The garage reckons its scrap and I thought (hoped) they were being maybe a wee bit harsh
So - for you to confirm their view does help
Couldn't really pin any handling issues as such apart from pulling to the left for no apparent reason
And the sub-frame looked ok until all the krap was blasted off it
The garage reckon they can fix it / make a new one however I'm not so confident and apart from anything else is the cost.  This garage seems very good however is expensive - overheads, VAT (Grr) etc
Anyway - will keep looking
Cheers

A subframe has just popped up on e-bay today, said to be unwelded and in good fettle with just surface rust.

Simon,
I see this one is no longer available, I thought £695 and collect yourself was a bit on the pricy side, but there again where will you find another one, if it's as good as it's supposed to be.
