Re: 1963 Flavia Coupe ( originally 1500cc but now 1800cc )

Hi folks,

Just wondered if anyone knows the delivery pressure of the boot mounted fuel pump and the subsequent flow rate, ltrs / hr  to the Filter King pressure filter in the engine compartment.

This query has nothing to do with the increase in cc as this was carried out some time ago and the engine runs well as it is.

Cheers,  Peter

measure after the filterking. pressure should c around 3psi for carb without return. Too much and the needle valve will rapidly wear out and lead to flooding running rich etc.... If you have 3psi I think there will be enough fuel delivery - check at various throttle settings. I did some experiments a while back on a Fulvia and could not detect any loss of performance on normal running around even when then pressure was turned down to 1 psi.

Eureka moment!
My Sport has suffered with a bit of rough idling and troubles starting when hot. I read this thread and wondered if it could be related and what my pump delivered. Pump has a part number so I checked on-line with the manufacturer and it delivers 6-8psi. I have spoken to them and they have a Bosch pump rated 3-3.5psi which they have on offer at £9.90 delivered. Must be worth a shot. Failing this, there is a pressure control valve at £56 which can do pressures down to 1psi. Watch this space............

Brian - maybe also check the float valve(s)?

Hi All,

Just to clarify my initial posting.  I’m looking to buy a new fuel pump and I just need to make sure that the pumps that I’m considering, with quoted delivery pressures and flow rates, match the original specifications.
The Filter King can take care of the delivery to the carbs.

Cheers,  Peter

Hi, if it helps i am running a facet road going pump through a filter king on my Fulvia HF, and set the fuel pressure to manufacturers spec, and it works fine.
