I need to make up a new brake pipe for the Appia and have been looking to buy the necessaire: pipe, flanging tools etc. (I have the ends - supplied new by the Appia Consortium)

Are 6mm and 1/4 inch copper pipe interchangeable ? Some sites suggest that they are, my calipers suggest not, there being about .4 mm difference. Does it matter ? Is a 6mm flanging tool OK on 1/4 inch pipe etc ......

Any advice gratefully received !

For brake pipe use 6mm and 1/4 inch are compatible, just make sure the flare is formed properly and you will be ok.
