STOP PRESS

The club has been contacted by the BBC for Lancia owners of convertible models to participate in an episode of Top Gear. Here are the details:

We are now looking for convertible cars to come along to our event; the event will actually be a brand new set up for the Top Gear studio records (this is the studio bit of the programme).

Due to COVID we are not able to conduct are usual studio set up and instead are going to be holding a ‘drive-in’ style studio. We’re looking for some amazing convertibles to fill our front rows and enjoy the show from the comfort of their own car and I’m hoping some of your members would like to come along.

The recordings are going to be taking place on the evenings of the 8th, 9th and 10th of September (only need to book one day) at Dunsfold Aerodrome – Cranleigh, GU6 8TB and here is a bit more info below –

The show will be a drive-in recording, so you must attend in a car - there are NO audience seating or standing areas. Cars will be parked at safe distances to follow government advice and precautions regarding COVID-19.

We wouldn’t require your members to do anything but simply park up, enjoy the show and get their car on TV! The only requirement we have is the vehicles have FM radios as this is required to able to tune in and hear the action. As it stands I’m going to be working on a first come, first serve basis and restricting numbers to 5 tickets per record (this is a ticket per car so can be 1-4 people per car as long as this is made up of same households or social bubbles). Note FM radio doe not have to be fitted to the car. A smart phone with FM radio module or portable radio will suffice.

If you’re members are interested please could you ask them to email me on – chris.holroyd-jones@bbc.co.uk and include their name, their car, their contact details and what date they’d like to attend.

This recording will take place on Dunsfold Aerodrome’s track although this will not be a live track and completely reserved for our use only; please note that we will not be able to cover your member’s insurance for this event so please make sure they’re happy with being parked up on the track before attending.

Essentially the records just means that we’ll be conducting the recording of the studio segment of the programme; this will be around  4 hour recording where the audience will get to see the presenters introduce some films and also get to watch the films themselves from their cars. The 3 days its set over are all separate records so this wouldn’t require your members to attend every single day; we’d just like them to pick which day they could attend out of the 8th, 9th and 10th and come down for then. Apologies for any confusion.

We’d love to see a few beautiful Lancias there so please let me know whether any of your members are interested.
