Title: Vulgarity on wheels! (not a Lancia)
Post by: ColinMarr on 18 November, 2017, 04:21:00 PM
There are very few modern cars that attract my attention but I was taken aback this morning by my first sighting of a Lexus model that has previously escaped my attention. I was first struck by its overall vulgarity and then had the nightmare thought that the designer might have been influenced by the front end of the Fulvia Sport! Please tell me this isn’t true.

I cannot see the similarity - where are the (two delicate) in/out longitudinal creases leading up to the air scoop (deleted)?

Lexus Japanese Lancia Italian no contest...

I see the similarity in the intrusion of the lights into the radiator grille. The designer was definitely under the influence of something!

If anything demonstrates the death of true artistry in car design when designers like Ercole Spada sat down with a pencil and paper, this does.

When Spada did the Flavia Zagato I expect the same sentiment was expressed AGAINST him :)

Yes, the front grill seems an exagerated version of the Lancia's

All the timeless designs in almost anything come under the 'keep it simple' rule, from an original Rolex sub to a Mk 1 Golf. I always think of these kind of cars as 'cartoon cars'.
