Title: Thema heater or not!
Post by: murf on 07 January, 2008, 01:19:43 PM
Is there anyone out there who knows how to get hot air out of the so called automatic heating system. When I bought the 8v turbo last summer it would only blow hot air which was solved by fitting one of the two 'spare' control boxes that came with the car. I've now tried all the boxes and every combination of temperature, flow direction and fan speed without being able to get more than a pathetic trickle of tepid air out of the system.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome the problem or is there no solution

It maybe that the 2 temperature sensors inside at top & bottom of air box are not working, more likely though is that by the left side of the steering column is a little grille panel, remove this & behind is a thermistor that measures cabin temperature by a small fan pulling air over the thermistor, this gets fluffed up & gives an incorrect reading, clean this but watch your fingers as it can be a bit sharp in there.

Thank you Brian for the suggestions, I will attempt to clean up the thermistor to see if that improves the heat output.
