The history of B24-1033 is as described in the advert.
The car has been in the ownership of a well-known motoring journalist in the UK since it was imported from South Africa.
It would not be correct to name the owner if the advert does not.
If it is not known to the club it is certainly known to Aurelia owners.

This stunning example, chassis number B24-1033, was originally delivered to its first owner in Naples, Italy. Upon moving to South Africa, his beloved Lancia went with him. A few years later it was bought by Michael Coucher, a hugely passionate car enthusiast and father to Robert, the renowned motoring journalist and founding editor of Octane magazine. Michael owned 1033 for many years before it was bought by the current owner in 1990.

Soon after it arrived in the UK, leading marque specialists Omicron carried out a comprehensive ground up restoration, which included a full strip down and bare metal respray, as well as a full engine rebuild. Since then the Aurelia has been used on various events and rallys over the years and has always been maintained perfectly.

In 2012, the Lancia was an entrant in the original Concours of Elegance at Windsor Castle, anyone who saw the line up of cars in the courtyard will know that just being there, speaks volumes for the provenance and presentation of this wonderful sports car.

Owner was a club member until a couple of years ago - Not Robert Coucher!

This is a nice reliable well restored B24 and I am not quite sure why it hasn't sold. These days though, if a reasonably expensive car is advertised for sale for too long, then a marked reluctance for buyers to come forward seems to develop, presumably because they start to think there is something fundamentally wrong with the car and yet they they cant see it.


Changing the subject (slightly) was anyone else surprised to read in last months Octane that Robert's 1991 Range Rover Vogue which he hasn't had for all that long has had to be scrapped for spares because of serious corrosion in all sorts of important areas?
I was surprised to read it on 2 levels - firstly that he bought such a poor car and secondly that it was so bad that it couldn't be repaired economically as a magazine article. When I next see him I will try to wind him up .....but a little carefully as he really enthused about the car when he got it.
