Title: Kop Hill Climb 17/18th September
Post by: fay66 on 24 September, 2016, 11:26:08 AM
Last sunday I had two runs up the Kop Hill Climb, it hasn't been a competetive event since 1925 when pedestrians were injured, leading to competitions on the public highway being banned.
About 9 years ago the local council got permission to close the hill for a weekend and allowed untimed runs up the hill, the cars & bikes running the hill are on show in the paddock, and there is a classic car show with lots of trade stands, as well a soapbox course.
I'm still waiting for the photos taken by the official photographer to arrive, but someone caught "Fay" on her way back to the paddock after a run, although it's only a short clip she sounds lovely.
I did take my runs on my in car camera that as soon as I've posted on youtube I'll supply the link.

Here you go Norman,
The 2nd run is in 2 parts. hope you like them but ignore the conversations!
The camera is quite a cheap one but it does the job, and the sound is good considering it was £7.99 post paid from China.
I've no complaints, and as it happens the local Sainsburys petrol station had them on special offer at £19.99 the other week, so who were making a killing ::).
No doubt someone will pick up on my bad habit of pulling the handbrake up on the ratchet :o
At least I didn't swear.

Quite steep.   I liked your answer to his lazy rust question.  Did you see the Wall of Death this time?  There were some big support trucks there.  Your "car of the day"?

Great footage Brian. It looks like a nice eclectic event. Have you got the airbox off your Fulvia (or maybe no air filter?) and is it a standard exhaust? Its seems to be much noisier than ours (which does have the tubular manifold and larger, slightly noisier  50mm Coupe exhaust centre section).

Yes David, it's 1 in 4 near the top.
I thought I was quite restrained to his question about rust, as you say a very lazy question, particularly as he was asking such inane questions about the colour of a primrose VW.
I did see the wall of death as it was opposite where I was parked and when they started up you could hardly hear yourself think! but I didn't get to see the show.
Too many lovely cars there to pick out one, if it had been last year it would have been the Tesla, amazing :o but this year it was elsewhere.

Lovely event Chris, there is also a static display and lots of trade stands, Brooklands brought a few cars, and the Napier Railton was pretty impressive going up the hill.
Funny enough although the road is closed for the weekend, we were informed at the drivers briefing that it's not a competitive event and traffic regulations still apply as it's a public highway, and subject to 60mph speed limit no matter how optimistic your speedo is!

Airbox is in place, problem is (although it's a great sound) down to a new stainless steel silencer Omicron had made for me a number of years ago, I think the internal packing is losing, lost? it's effectiveness. the rest of the system from the downpipe back is also stainless steel.
Sounded great coming off the Col De Turini on the Fulvia Knights Rallye in 2013, and underpasses  ;D
