Title: insurance cover for fulvia for my 23 year old son Post by: peterhedge on 24 April, 2016, 08:32:44 PM Hi I wonder if anyone can help or has managed to overcome the following:
My son and I have restored a lancia fulvia over a number of years beginning late 2005. We completed the project just after his 18th birthday (5 years ago now), he turns 23 on 11th May and has 5+ years of accident free and penalty free driving under his belt. I have tried in vain to find any company that will cover him to drive until he is 25. I have come across many people who have sons driving their classics but no-one with a fulvia. I currently insure through footman James but would happily change if it means getting him covered. Ideas gratefully received ! They used Lancaster Insurance for quotes. They might be worth contacting.

Title: Re: insurance cover for fulvia for my 23 year old son Post by: neil-yaj396 on 26 April, 2016, 06:04:09 AM Wasn't around 10 years ago that insurance premiums went crazy for under 25's, or is it longer? I thought that under 25's were pretty much excluded from classic policies now.
This has a quite insidious effect on the classic movement, as young people are no longer attracted to classic cars as they were when I learnt to drive and was able to insure a classic. The insurance companies corral them into the Corsa/Ka/500 sector and they move on from there, never acquiring that spark of interest in older cars. However, some specialist companies may still offer policies but with strings, see link to Footman James, not sure whether this is current http://www.footmanjames.co.uk/news/classic-car-insurance-young-driver

They were very good and cheap on a classic limited mileage policy - they might provide something, worth a try.

Very competitive and comprehensive, as one member has demonstrated recently with car breakdown in France....Title: Re: insurance cover for fulvia for my 23 year old son Post by: Lapsed Cesare Ferrari on 27 April, 2016, 09:12:40 PM Richardson Hosken is now the old car arm of Equity Red Star. I insure with them and find them efficient and flexible. Google Equity Red Star and follow the classic car link, which takes you to a page that still carries an RH trademark.
