Title: Freeze crack on block of Fulvia 1.3S
Post by: peterhedge on 18 April, 2016, 05:11:13 PM
Hi all,

I'm new to the forum so go gentle on me !

My son and I have bought a 1.3S 'project' engine and knowingly it had a freeze crack in the block (a common problem apparently). We already have a complete 1.3S on the road which we restored several years ago.

I've been advised that the best repair method is stitchwelding but have been quoted 500 for the repair (so far). I see there's a complete engine and gearbox on ebay at the moment for around 250 so perhaps I should buy another one !

I have attached a photo of the damage

Does anyone have any good contacts or know of a cheaper reliable repair alternative ?

Many thanks for reading, Peter

Many thanks for everyone's help have now sourced a replacement block. In the sunlight (what's that I hear you say) I spotted that the top surface also had a hairline crack in it - think it's had its day !
