Title: Dedra 1.8 is SE
Post by: frankxhv773t on 01 March, 2016, 10:56:38 AM
Listed on e-bay.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1991-LANCIA-DEDRA-SE-IE-WHITE-SPARES-OR-REPAIRS-BARN-FIND-RESTORATION-PROJECT-/131737895572?hash=item1eac30c294:g:ROcAAOSwG-1W0Ykb

It looks really good, less than 39,000 recorded miles but that doesn't fit with the driver's seat wear. Otherwise it looks an excellent prospect for re-commissioning and light restoration. I think I have some green alcantara seat covers that might be of use, if only for repair panels.

No connection to seller.

At first I thought the odometer might be suspect too as the figures are out of line but in fact it's just the '8' creeping up as it's getting close to 39,000 which is normal. I suppose the seat depends on the number of journeys within that mileage. Could be the driver has a bunch of keys hanging on a fob and getting in and out for many short journeys has ruined the seat. The steering wheel and gear knob don't look overly worn.

The pedal covers are also in good shape indicating little use. Just wonder if a pull in the material was left to get worse than tried to be stopped as it lets down what looks like a very good car.

An LMC badge on the grille means it must be known to someone in the club. Shame about the wheels.

Regards

Simon

Looks well worth having, my first Dedra was a 2.0iese in the same colour inside & out, to me the white with the olive green interior trim was the best colour combination, when I sold it there was 139,000 miles on the clock
and there was no sign of any wear, the Dedra alcantara wore much better than the alcantara in my Delta HF Turbo, or either of my Themas, so like Frank said the wear is surprising.
As far as the wheels are concerned I love the original wheel style but they were a nightmare for corrosion, I bought a new set of wheels when they were selling them off cheap and even with care within a year they were going the same way.
I'd forgotten that there was a 1.8iese and I can't ever remember seeing one, and I only saw a couple of 2.0iese's during all my Dedra ownership and being Technical Advisor.
If you look at the keys on the seat you can see it still has it's remote for the remote control central locking.
I had to reprogramme one once and it was so hard to do that the Lancia Dealers couldn't even do it, eventually with great perseverance I managed it.
I had the electronic suspension on mine that isn't fitted to this one but has nearly everything else down to the useless headlamp wipers that had the habit of waving at you over the front of the bonnet.
This one really needs saving as if as it looks it must be one of the best of the few left.
Photos of my first one at a photo shoot for Autoitalia at Ickworth Hall about 1995, ready for a trip to the south of France, and two of my Dedra's together.

I had a white with green interior Dedra too. Mine was 2.0 ieSE, an ex Lancar demonstrator with all the options including electrically adjustable and heated seats. It was a wonderful car.

The problem with the wipers seemed to be that rubber seal on the spindle shaft got worn so it let rain water be forced into the gearbox behind. The gears being steel and there being no discernible drain holes the gears eventually became a mass of crumbling rust. Then the wipers were free to flap about and air pressure rotated them up to wave at you over the bonnet line. I always fancied replacing the gears with something non rustable.

Frank ahving ridden in yours a number of times I should have remembered it was a 2.0iese, funny with the toys though as mine didn't have the electric heated seats! I did replace my headlamp wipers once as you so correctly said the internals change in to a pile of mushy rust, they cured the wipers waving over the edge of the bonnet on later ones by added a small bracket at the top that restricted the movement.
I had a 1994 LE and that had pressure jets as did my Themas,
One other small point, the advert says 'Digital climate Control'  to the best of my extensive Dedra knowledge, No UK Dedra's were ever fitted with Aircon, although I'm not 100% certain about the very last few HF Turbos

On "air con" it is just electronically controlled ventilation, but very efficient. Attached are photos of Air con and non air con controls. The difference is that the air con one has an economy button to use ventilation without air con. On the car for sale this button is blank.

As to the driver's seat wear, I notice there are heavy vertical  scratches on the seat suggesting physical damage rather than high mileage wear. As I say, I believe I have material to restore it if someone takes the plunge and rescues it. (Brian, it's seat covers from the black one we broke, remember?)

Does anyone know who bought this? It made £600 which is decent and a great car for the money.
