Title: Aprilia and Citroen Cloverleaf. Two for the price of one!
Post by: Dilambdaman on 16 December, 2015, 04:55:07 PM
A friend of a friend who was party to a conversation in his local pub alerted me to an Aprilia to be disposed of not far from me following the death of the previous owner and quite naturally I had to go and have a look didn't I?!

Turns out that the Aprilia has been undergoing restoration for decades and there is still a mountain of work to do. Lots of bits seemed to be missing and having tongue in cheek suggested a figure to the son of the deceased owner he mentioned that the missing parts could be in a lockup some miles away. The next day we visited the lockup and on opening the door, low and behold, a very decrepit early '20s Citroen 5CV Cloverleaf! Long story short the guy just wanted to be shot of the two cars and  attendant piles of junk with as little effort on his behalf as possible. Clear the lot he said for the sum mentioned in respect of the Aprilia and we have a deal. I shook his hand! Well, you would, wouldn't you!

So, I have liberated a 1939 S1 Aprilia restoration project and the remains of a vintage French light car from years of storage. Oh, and a quantity of miscellaneous rubbish some of which may prove useful, if only for Ebaying!

So far three club members with Aprilia experience have seen the car and one who has only seen photos of it have all offered their opinions on the viability of the project. The consensus is that it would be a shame if it were to be broken for spares but the bottom line is that I don't want to take it on. At my advancing years two Dilambda and a Fanalone are more than enough to keep me occupied. So, I'm minded to put it on Ebay unless anyone on here has any suggestions.

I've yet to recover the Citroen from its resting place, so who knows what I might do with that!

Robin.

Robin Hood? Actually looks like a respectable project. Do you have V5 etc?
