Title: National Weekend 24th to 26th June - Highgate House, Northamptonshire
Post by: neil-yaj396 on 07 November, 2015, 08:49:20 AM
An early notice for next years event.

After the difficulties that the Committee encountered trying to remotely manage last years event Mark Hall suggested this venue and has stepped forward to organise it with the help of Alison Ure.

The event will revert to the 'old' format: drive out and socialising on Saturday, then Concours and AGM Sunday.

More details to follow.

Thank you Neill,Mark & Alison.
Looks very nice and quite close to Husbands Bosworth Where "Fay"'s first owner lived, and where she was found after he Died, so it will be a case of " Fay Come Home" rather than "Kathy Come Home"
And I welcome the return to the old format.

Hi simon,
Owner was a Mr Ronald Greville Heygate of 11 Dingly road, Great Bowden.
I do believe his brother was a WW2 Fighter Pilot,
I was originally told that he was a solicitor but I met someone a few years ago who knew the family and said they were farmers.
I have very little documentation as it got lost sometime to Fay being discovered at the rear of 11 dingly road and turning up with Steve Sheppard who I bought her from.
however I do have a service invoice  from GB Motors, 41 The Green Great bowden, dated 1/8/1972 at 23,342 Miles with next service due at 26,342 miles.
Interestingly the tyre pressures are shown as 22front 24 rear..
He probably was a Farmer as one of the few thins with her is a programme, a forward car parking pass and
a book of Govenors Grandstand vouchers to the 1973 royal Agricultural Show at Stoneleigh.

Added onto the club calendar with Mark as the contact. Also set this one to be 'sticky' so it'll stay at the top of this board.

I understand our President, Pete Gerrish will be speaking. Not sure what about, but it will be good, not politically correct, and no doubt very funny.

(The Italian speaker had to withdraw due to illness IIRC).

I don't have the exact schedule but basically it is;

Friday; barbecue/evening meal

Saturday; guided drive (2 routes)/Gala dinner

Sunday; AGM/concours

In essence back to the pre 2012 (?) format. Has anyone got June's VL? Will be disappointing if it doesn't appear before tomorrow.

I've downloaded all the photos uploaded onto the database for the past year and will bring along on the RaspberryPi so if there's a TV with an HDMI plug we can put it on in the background ... brings back a few memories of what we've done ....

Yes, very enjoyable and many thanks for making it happen.

The drive with the questions was great - we just ran out of time - weather was 'interesting'. Peter gave a great presentation and kept us amused afterwards in the bar too ( and before as I was on his table )

I'll 'nab' and pictures for the website posted here or feel free to upload them on the database yourself ( click on the camera icon on the events page on the AGM row )

It was a thoroughly enjoyable event, and very well organised.   It was my first AGM and I appreciated the opportunity to meet many of the people I've been "blogging" with on the various forums, and a big thank you to the Fulvia owners who answered my long list of questions, and allowed me to crawl over and under their cars to take photographs and measurements to help me with my rebuild!  All of the people I met throughout the event were helpful and enthusiastic.  Here are three of my pictures.

A few photos I took Yesterday,
Great day but would have been nice if others had got their Lancias out and joined us for the day, and if your Lancia is off the road bringing something else wouldn't have been a problem.
Stealth was amazing,
Louis's sick Super Jolly was lovely. and for me it was great to have three Fulvia Berlinas together, a very rare sight these days, without a doubt the lovely Series 1 GTe that has just been restored by a Laddie from Omicron, and was stunning, should have won the award for the best Fulvia Berlina, but he hasn't yet made his mind up about joining the LMC, so he wasn't eligible, so it came down to Chris Hopkins lovely Series 2 and my "Fay", I'm pleased to say it was awarded to myself, but to be honest I wouldn't liked to have been one of the judges!

The three Berlinas do look very nice together. How many more are roadworthy in the UK? I would have thought 'Stealth' is a bit potent to let Snowy out behind the wheel. Nothing too serious with the Super Jolly I hope?

Lovely photos of the Fulvia Berlinas Brian.
I really love the colour of the blue GET. Does it have a cloth interior?
Wish I had been able to attend with our GTE. It's our daily driver here and consequently shopping takes an age as invariably someone in the car park wants to talk about Fulvias. This doesn't happen in the same way with Aurelias funnily enough.
We have met some interesting people locally that way and last week we ended up spending a very pleasant evening with a visiting Australian couple who are on holiday cycling in the area and who wandered over in the supermarket car park wondering why an Italian was driving a rhd car!
They ended up coming back to ours for an early evening drink and chat. We may never meet again but the evening was fun.

Hi Chris,
How lucky the Australian couple were curious and hd the good fortune to meet up with you. :)
It really was lovely but had that light brown /orange vinyl interior, but if you know where there's a complete interior in red he would be more than happy to hear about it!
Shame we didn't have your GTE there as well, it would have been great.
Incidentally our young friend has dropped it slighly, has widened the wheels and it has negative camber front and rear, different cams (1600?) and solex 42's, so it should be quite lively.
To answer an earlier question I don't know how many series 2's there are left, not a lot I suspect but "Fay" is the only RHD 2c,
As Brian Mills said at the AGM quite a few Fulvias have come in from abroad in the last 12 months so I wonder how many of them are Berlinas, I definitely know of a 2c that came in from Italy that I went to look at near Southend on a freezing cold January for a club member, which was very original if a bit shabby and needed a bit of TLC and a good tune, unfortunately the member I went with didn't buy it and it was sold to someone in Scotland, does anyone know who to? as I'd like to contact them.

Yes Brian is right.  Gino was going magnificently until the last 10 miles on the M1 and petered to a stop close the venue.  Turns out it was a dodgy coil which we thought we'd had replaced.  Just one of those bugs to sort out and we'll also take a look at the carb and secondary choke (as recommended) to eliminate all issues.

As Brian said we didn't want to risk the trip home so we got a lift from a pre-arranged truck organised by the RAC, who by the way were brilliant. Mark who came to my aid thankfully had enough old school knowledge to get me the one mile I needed to the event!  Thanks to Neil Simms for being shot gun as We headed off the M1 and also for taking Jason and Billy home (no dogs allowed in the truck).

Some wonderful cars and nice to see people and show off Gino.  Thanks so much for our award at the AGM and also the Oddball award at the concourse.  Gino's first award!

I popped along for the morning session of the Saturday. Even though I was Lancia-less I enjoyed meeting fellow members and seeing a selection of Lancias, plus a 45 mile run out in very variable weather through quite a few simply divine villages and countryside.

I was however a bit disappointed at how few actual Lancias made it to this part of the weekend to be honest. Only one Aurelia and a small numbers of other ranges.

I returned for the AGM/open forum on the Sunday morning and listened to quite a short overview of the club and how it was doing. The open forum was a again not quite what I expected and discussion around the format of the national weekend seemed one that had been gone over a number of times before!

A few photos of the cars below....

Woke up in the middle of the night last night as it was so hot and lay there wondering if I had read your . earlier post regarding the lhd blue Fulvia GTE correctly?
'Incidentally our young friend has dropped it slighly, has widened the wheels and it has negative camber front and rear, different cams (1600?) and solex 42's, so it should be quite lively.'
Forgive my stupidity but how does one alter the camber on the rear of a Fulvia unless one bends the axle of course?
Chris

I remember John Day explaining how he put negative camber on a coupe and it was exactly that - heat the centre of the rear axle. Not sure how you would get an accurate number of degrees each side but I'm sure he had it all worked out. Also I'm not sure what happens to the springs. I suppose they must have enough give to sit at a slightly different angle at the point of the axle?

No idea Chris but that's what he said and in the metal it certainly seems to have negative camber.
I'm sure if you rang Omicron where he works he'd be more than pleased to tell you what he's done. :o
