Title: Rome's Invisible City
Post by: Dilambdaman on 02 June, 2015, 08:33:15 AM
Could hardly believe my eyes when at the very start of the excellent BBC One programme, Rome's Invisible City, last evening the expert accompanying Alexander Armstrong, Dr Michael Scott, was introduced driving a Flavia Vignale Convertible! And how perfectly he looked in it and it looked on the streets of Rome.

If you missed the programme do try and catch it on iPlayer it is absolutly fascinating. The infrastructure built by the Romans underneath the city over 2000 years ago is mind bogling. Coming as it did on the day that BBC News showed the truly amazing feat of engineering going on under the streets of London just now it causes you to stand in awe of the achievement all those years ago.

Yes - lovely Flavia, obviously a man of taste. As you say, it was pointed out that it took another 2000 years for London to have a major sewage system.

Somebody texted me (who???) to make me aware so I switched channels and caught the next two shots. Seemed the rev counter and door lights were not working but very nice otherwise.

Also thanks to whoever for making me switch channels as I found the programme fascinating. I wonder if Bath has such infrastructure under it??

A very interesting programme, I missed the first few minutes with the Flavia, which I have now rewatched, AA even mentioned the Flavia when they both go for a drive.

Saw the first bit and will watch on catchup.

Don't know about Bath being like that - you'd be in danger of hitting a very hot spring I would imagine :)
