Curious what it is off, it is early type with exhaust ports at the back, but not off any Beta AFAIK (unless early Saloon)?

"AFAIK" - "as far as I know" ????? Not come across that before
-
The part number on the exhaust manifold cross references with Beta 1.3.....AFAGK (as far as Google Knows!)
-
Was the Beta 1.3 available with a cam mounted distributor? Thought they were all block mounted at the front with only the i.e. and VX having the dizzy there?

Thats why I think it could be a Delta 1.3 but the exhaust number is confusing.
-
Delta 1.3 and Delta 1.5 were SOHC, not DOHC.
DOHC came with the Delta 1.6 GT.
Best use for that lump of (corroded) aluminium would be as a doorstopper (IMHO);D
-
It's not Beta, not with those engine mounts. None the wiser though! Carb ducting ought to give someone a clue?
-
Very Delta like then? An early 1.6??

Hi Simon
Oops, sorry about that.... Must use full words

What made me think it was maybe early Beta was what looks like a metal cover for the timing belt, the later Betas all had yellow plastic ones I think, but the engine mounts are definitely not Beta as mentioned, hence wondering if it was an early saloon, but I thought all of them had a similar mounting scheme.
So maybe the engine was transplanted into something else?
The answer is to get the number near the oil filter which would settle it.

Can't say I've ever seen that cambelt cover on a Delta?

Its seems not to be "Work In Progress" the way all the pipes have been cut. The cam covers do not have Delta recessed fastners. Could it be a Monte???
-
Not convinced the mount or the air filter is Monte. I guess we need the engine number...

The seller is not able to get more info. Based in Glasgow so if anyone wants to go look......

Not a Monte motor Peter, the dizzy is in the wrong place for that, Monte Carlos are on the exhaust cam bank... It's a mystery alright!
-
The oil filler is at the wrong end for a Beta. The dizzy and engine mounts are also non-Beta as mentioned. Prisma or Dedra?
-
Early 1.6 Delta. (Or Prisma)
