Title: New Club Member: 1970 Flavia Coupe 2000
Post by: Mike Anderson on 15 November, 2014, 10:12:49 PM
Good evening I'm a new Club member having bought a 1970 Flavia 2000 Coupe a month or so ago.
It's my first venture into Italian classic cars. For 22 years until May this year I owned a '66 Mustang Fastback, having had two other mid 60's US Fords before that. When I was searching for a suitable replacement for the Mustang a Lancia wasn't even on my radar, and I'd never heard of, let alone seen a Flavia!
Compared to the Mustang the Flavia is years ahead in terms of build quality and engineering, the only thing I miss is the raw power of the 289ci (4.8) V8.
Hope to meet other club members at events. Regards Mike.

Hi Justin thanks for the tip. I've just ordered a CD and am pretty sure that the one you suggest is correct, as the documentation I have says it's  an "820" designation. That will be a great help especially if it's in English, regards Mike.

Join the consortium and I think he's got stock of "The Book" still.

He might also have the "Collectors guide" at rather more sensible money that this.

Hi thanks for your replies. I've joined both the Consortium and the Lancia Owners Club and will order the books you recommend. Can anyone tell me please what the function is (if any) of the little knurled plastic "thumb screw" on the round chrome hinge plate down by the seat reclining lever?
I'm having to get my petrol tank repaired as I presume that new stock/replicas aren't available.
A helpful and knowledgeable lady called Elizabeth at Omicron told me that stainless steel bumpers may be reproduced for this model sometime in the future.
It's all a long way from the Mustang where all parts were available quickly and reasonably priced. In the end I estimate that probably only 33% of my Mustang was original. With my Flavia it looks like it's 90% plus!
Regards Mike

Mike,

That "nice lady" you mentioned is the lovely and wonderful Elizabeth Cliffe, who knows everything about any "Real" Lancia", and along with her husband Martin, and son Andrew, are an invaluable help when it comes to keeping your car on the road, I know because I have had Flavias for over twenty years.

I bought a pair of those stainless steel bumpers for my 815  Flavia Coupe through the Flavia/2000 Consortium, speak to Colin Clamp.
