Post by: Richard Fridd on 23 October, 2014, 03:42:29 PM
For anyone who hasn't seen it, The "Best Preserved Car" award went to this Aurelia B52. http://www.velocetoday.com/zoute-grand-prix-october-9-12-belgium/  also a B20 at the beginning of http://www.velocetoday.com/a-lifetime-of-cars-of-a-lifetime-part-2-lancia-to-maserati/ (where is part 1 I wonder?)

Regulars on the Sliding Pillar Rally will recognise the owner driving the car!

The Zoute rally looks really good - a lot of interesting Italian cars there. Perhaps we should make it a destination/date on the calendar? - I fancy going there next year!

Does look very good indeed. The black Bugatti pictured looks very much like the one owned by Bugatti's son Michel, who lives about 15kms from me. He brings it to the local show each year. I was very surprised when I learned who he was as I didn't imagine Ettore to have such a young looking son. He was from Ettore's second marriage, born in 1945. He spends all weekend each year talking to people about it and never seems to get fed up with all the questions. By coincidence I had produced a Bugatti illustration in the past, so last year I took a print along and asked if he'd sign it, which he did. It's very nice to see a Bugatti signature on it and I'm glad I thought of doing it.

It is on the velocetoday website.  Go to home page and look down to the bottom of the page.
