Title: John Vessey
Post by: Tony Stephens on 21 September, 2014, 07:37:19 PM
Sorry to report the death of John Vessey on Monday last.

John was one of the architects of the Lambda Consortium, the example of how a spares scheme should be run, and Lambda owners around the world have relied for years on the prompt and efficient sourcing  and despatch of vital parts to keep the cars going. John was at still "on duty" up till his death at the age of 90.

Additionally he was a familiar face on Club rallies, and at Sliding Pillar events.

In accordance with his specific wishes, funeral arrangements will be private. A lunch will be held at a "suitable hostelry", The Travellers' Rest,  Brough  Lane Head, Brough, Bradwell, Hope Valley S33 9HG (01433 623338). All welcome from 12.30 on.

Sympathies to Anne, Mark and Richard.

That is sad news. I knew John and had a high regard for him. John’s knowledge of Lambda was inexhaustible and he was a lovely man too. I’ll try to find some photos of him – meanwhile here is one of him in a Lambda competing at Prescott in 1952.

To all the people trying to build or keep a Lambda on the road, John was such an amazing help, even not objecting to early morning phone calls from South Africa , Australia etc.  He was also a very good friend and is irreplaceable in my eyes.  Rest well old friend, running a Lambda will never be as easy again!  Peter Gerrish.
