Title: How many in the UK?
Post by: G-BROE on 06 April, 2014, 03:44:19 PM
Does anyone know how many Ypsilons there are in the UK? I read somewhere last year that there were only 14 - would this be an accurate figure?

I'd be surprised if there's that many! are you including 2nd series? I'm also assuming you're not taking into account the 3rd series which are marketed here as Chrysler Ypsilon ;)

I had the 840 in mind - between the Y10 and the Chrysler badged.
The fourteen figure came from an advert for one on ebay sometime last year.

Never believe claims on eBay!

I've brought in two Ypsilons brand new alone, seen plenty more that have been brought in used. Personally I'd reckon at least a hundred of the first shape and facelift cars, 1995-2002 or so. A number of these will gave been brought over by their EU owners and then registered here by them, or left behind

Trevor,
That does suprise me as it's fairly rare to see them or see them advertised.
According to the 2011 Register of members and their vehicles only 7 UK registered cars are listed of all variants.
I think my elefantino Rosso must have been written off, changed it's number, or gone back to Europe as there's no sign of it, Gerard Thorp was the next owner after me, then a later model he brought in got written off in an accident, so he replaced that with a new one.
Don't suppose the DVLA's figures will be much use either.

I've only seen three registered for the UK in the last couple of years - two advertised and one in the flesh - if people ask me, I play safe and say less than twenty.

I know of more than seven! And have seen a number if non UK reg ones about, I suspect the latter outnumber those the DVLA know about

The DVLA know about mine again now, so that makes another edition!

I'm certain that there's quite a few sat In Doris's garage gathering dust!
