Title: Lancia 2000 Sedan
Post by: blueboxer on 20 February, 2014, 07:20:15 PM
I saw this advertised before at about £1500. It has plenty of problems but seller has now reduced it to £550 and the threat that if it doesn't sell , it will be 'weighed in'!

Go on, be brave...

MOT last June...

"Some say" the coolest car in the world:

The world seems a better place that, even with the price of Aurelias as it is, stuff like this is STILL out there.

David, as a latecomer to the Lancia family, those were very interesting, thanks

To repeat Robin's comments, Someone please buy it - they are fab, under-rated cars and the injection (like this) is really quick ! Handles like a big mini and will carry 5 in executive comfort ......for £500 !

I love 'em !

just to reiterate the rarity, page 7 of VL this month -  Lancia you rarely see - "So rare that we've had to resort to using an old ad to illustrate it"

I've only ever been a passenger in one of these but what a great car, I'm not convinced with the comment of "Light Corrosion" as it looks a tad more than that to me, but well worth someone saving particularily at the asking price, seems it's only got until sunday to be rescued then that's it, it will also need a replacement engine, how readily available are these?

Robin I still remember your lovely green one that I tried to persuade a friend to buy, if I hadn't have had so many Lancia's at the time I'd have loved it myself :(

One very nice feature is the rear window curtains that are still in place.

Love the look and reading the links on the thread makes it very tempting, but, it does look like a full top to toe restoration, a knackered engine is just a bit too far....even at £550, I have enough to be getting on with  for the next 18 mths anyways

Hi All

Would be a shame to let go, anyone fancy creating a pot to save it and any volunteers to collect and store?

Peter

I'd make a contribution to save it. I've no storage spare though

I have one !! A brilliant car. A pity I'm in the wrong country. Could be useful for spares if nothing else.

I have what I understand to be a 2000 engine in what I was told low miles condition.  Alas it doesn't turn...   It would be free to anyone who took this car on.  I also remember  a Viva advert not long ago with the entire subframe and drive train and back axle from a "known to be good" car going for free.  Parts would NOT be a problem.

The problem is the time and space (I'm out of both...) to have the engine out, sort out whatever the issue it, smarten it up and protect it.

Agree with all comments about 2000 saloon. A brilliant car both to drive and from practicality point of view. For many years I had one as the main family car, 4 young children and a trailer for holidays. I still rate it as the most comfortable car I have ever had although my Citroen (wash my mouth out) BX TZD was almost as good. Main problem was thirst (was a carb version) and the rear springs eventually breaking through the boot floor. Survived many RAC Rally special stages using knobbly tyres and huge sump guard when I was MO for motor clubs. Happy days.

Hi All

Just had this reply from the seller, so hopefully another saved....

"Hi Peter. A Lancia 2000 owner from Solihull has purchased the car and paid for it
without needing to view. It is being delivered Wednesday. He tells me that in the
short term he will use the Interior in his own car and then slowly restore/nurse back
to health, the Maroon example. So the car, which does not need a 'top to toe restoration'
(I am quoting an LMC member comment on the forum) has been saved from the scrapman
and I for one, am pleased about that.
Regards
Brian"

Thank goodness for that. I really thought that I might end up with another Lancia and a battle royal with she who must be obeyed (well, most of the time!!!).

Congratulations to the new owner.

Robin,

Is your real question "any more like that out there?"

Definitely not David! A case of not reading the previous posts  ::) I need to finish the Fanalone, ready the Dilambda for the summer and decide what to do with the Fulvia saloon before I even think of taking on something else.
