Title: Fulvia Clutch
Post by: stuwilson128 on 03 November, 2013, 08:12:20 PM
I read on here a while back that a Fiat Uno 1.4 Turbo clutch will fit the S2 Fulvia.  I have been looking around for one, but there seems to be so much choice in clutches!  A few are listed as suitable for Uno and Citivan 1.4 Turbo as well as Dedra 1.8.

Does anybody have any more information regarding the compatibility of the Uno Turbo clutch which will fit my Fulvia?

The following Ebay link is one of the clutches which I am considering, but am wondering if it is meant for a 1.4 Turbo diesel.

Valeo as well as Sachs that used to make O/E Fulvia S2 clutches consider them obsolete and don't make them anymore. Thus, only old stock is currently available from wholesales or retailers. The latest model which fitted this component was the Fiat Croma 1600 cc petrol (after Fiat 124, 131 etc). Note, however, that the clutch bearing may be different. The Fiat Uno turbo clutch (non diesel model) is somewhat different and only the clutch plate (which is thicker) can be fitted to S2/3 Fulvias. Of course, plates can be relined like brake shoes. I acquired 2 Fiat Uno turbo clutches via ebay some time ago and fitted both plate and cover to my 1600 sport and 1600 HF. You have to use the Fulvia release bearing (Omicron I think may have a few of these). Interestingly the HF clutch is a lot lighter in action but the Sport has been known to slip under severe load when changing from 1st to 2nd on alpine passes. I would recommend trying to get one of them.

Take care as I bought a clutch that turned out to be for another Uno / Fiat range with only 17 splines. Didnt cost me much and I will recycle it at some point.

This one is the right dia and no of splines but the pressure plate could be unusable due to significantly different design to the earlier diaphragm plates.

I had an Uno Turbo clutch fitted to my S2 years ago. Just checked the old invoice but no item number unfortunately. After fitting the pedal was noticeably lighter to operate. Been in there for 11 years now including competition stuff in the early days so can be recommended.

Thanks for the information chaps.  The clutch I thought may be ok appears to be for the Uno Turbo Diesel, so not really ideal.  I will have a good look around for a clutch for a 1400 Uno Turbo  :)
