Title: Snaps from the AGM – 1980 that is!
Post by: ColinMarr on 09 September, 2013, 11:38:18 AM
Looking through some old colour slides I found some from the LMC AGM in 1980. The scans attached show a sporting Lambda that I remember being impressed by, a perfect Flavia Sport Zagato and an Aprilia. As I remember it, the Aprilia arrived late and seemed reluctant to park alongside some of the smarter vehicles. LMC Librarian Paul Mayo is seen by the front of the car.

Yes, this is me on the right and surprisingly I seem to be holding a beer can.  I think I was driven to this AGM by a friend from Scotland and we returned straight afterwards.
It was a busy year as I went to Spa with John Savage to a very wet Classic event along with Barry Crowe.  I have some fascinating photos from this trip, which I should scan and post.  I also later went to Torino with Harry Manning, Nigel Trow and Anthony Smallhorn on a trip to prospect for the 1981 Centenary event.  Plenty of Very interesting photos from this trip as we went to Luciano Basso's workshop in Torino, and I took many photos there.
Attached a photo of my car madness at the time.  This was "my barn" on a farm near Stirling where you can see my Morris Traveller, 4th Series B20 under white cover, John Grant's B10, my 1949 Aprilia, another 4th series RYX 7 sold to the Rippon twins, red Flavia 2000 Coupe after I hit a tractor with it, an Alfa Romeo Bertone 2600 Sprint, and in the foreground the late Willy Burnside's 1300 Fulvia Sport which disappeared at Norman Stewart's place.

Paul, I thought it was an aerosol can you were holding and perhaps you were about to finish of the paint job! I am deeply envious of your barn collection – you must tell more. Meanwhile, here are more photos from the 1980 AGM.
