Including some shots of a show chassis.

The Istituto Luce Cinecittą has just uploaded thousands of videos to YouTube which might take quite a lot of your time if you start digging around in them :-)

For example, here's some great footage of Aurelias and other cars slithering around on the 1954 Coppa del Mare e dei Monti (won by Valenzano in a B20, a 3rd series car, I think) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PG0mWn-l5_4&feature=plcp (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PG0mWn-l5_4&feature=plcp)

The ILC YouTube channel is here http://www.youtube.com/user/CinecittaLuce/videos?view=0 (http://www.youtube.com/user/CinecittaLuce/videos?view=0): use the 'Search Channel' box and enjoy...

What a find!!

As our DVD piles on top of the DVD shelves had reached the point of needing a ladder and hard hat to remove one I'm making some draws for them at the moment.  Sorting through I came across some "Motorfilms Quarterly" and with Mrs L out last night watched the 1956 Alpine Rally.

Quite a contrast to the Italian "Coppa del Mare e dei Monti" film in terms of music and commentator.  "They fell off at the next corner" on something like the Stelvio (and reading the Marcus Chambers "7 year twitch" book tumbled three lacets) is delivered in the same tone as "I'll take milk and two" to a soundtrack that closer matches the wild flowers than a Cowboys vs Indians.

The treat I'm saving is the Shell Films "Mille Miglia 1953" which has footage from Bill Mason (Nick Mason's dad) with a hand held camera in a Ferrari.
