Post by: St Volumex on 30 March, 2012, 07:30:53 AM
www.facebook.com/RetroPart (http://www.facebook.com/RetroPart)

RetroPart is an idea which has had a long gestation, and grew out of our passion for maintaining and restoring our own collection of classic Lancias, facing the challenges of obtaining rare parts, and an ethos for doing things correctly and excellently.

We make and source rare parts for rare machines - Lancia, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo are our speciality.

Services and processes include: Computer Aided Design & Manufacture (CAD/CAM), rapid prototyping, laser- and water-jet cutting; welding, turning, milling, tube bending, sheet metal fabrication; rubber, resin and silicone moulding and extrusion; electroplating, powdercoating, casting and vacuum forming.

Feel free to send an email to RetroPart@mweb.co.za (http://RetroPart@mweb.co.za) to discuss your requirements.

Thank you.

Guy,
Looks good and I'm pleased to see it working, only downside for me is I'm not, & never intend to be a facebook member ::)
Good luck.

Thanks Brian,

Your remark about Facebook reminds me of the jokes about being engaged as opposed to married: "You don't have to go into the shop - you can just look in the window", or "You don't have to ride the bicycle, but you can still ring the bell"!  ;D

Once RetroPart picks up momentum I'll launch a webpage, and probably also sell on eBay - where you can really risk you neck.  ::)

Brian, I just tested it now without even logging in to Facebook.

You can see all the 'bits and bobs', but you cannot 'connect' without being a Facebook member.  ::)

We have added some more parts to our Items for Sale - 3 times now!  ???  Mysteriously these seem to disappear and reappear at random!

We also added 50 pictures of rare machinery seen yesterday at Angela's Picnic, among them a few Lancias, and even a Chrysler.  ;D

I've changed the spelling of 'chrysler' to begin with a capital C in my post above 3 times, but it continues to revert to a lowercase letter.  ???

Now I'm wondering if Chrysler is a banned word on the Forum?  ;D

See, it reverts to chrysler - let's try Khrysler.

Should be ok now ... Chrysler chrysler ChRySlEr Ch**sl** C****** :)

It's a great idea though, I saw one of the 3D laser scanning / carving  (printing?) things at a model show last year and thought how good it would be for re-making broken bits ....
