Title: Front door intrusion bars

Australia likes its cars to have intrusion bars in their front doors.  I have a feeling that Deltas may well have these as part of their crash protection/safety spec.  Can anyone confirm (and ideally send me some evidence)?

But I would have thought it would have, what you need is a Brochure showing safety equipment for evidence in print or whip off a door pad and have a look!

No mention of door bar safety in the 1993-1994 integrale sales brochure only this quote

Looking through my Lancia brochures the first mention and illustration of them is in a Dedra brochure dated 1996, they do not  appear in any previous brochures, so I think the answer to Chris's question is no they are not fitted to his Delta.

Well I guess mine might be the first to have them retro-fitted (there is quite a cottage industry here doing this to imports).  My review of the brochures I have suggests that the structural safety on the Delta was restricted to crumple zones.

You evil man, what a horrible thought... :o  I think its going to cost me an arm and a leg anyway, so it will be painful enough...

Have you tried the New Zealand forum dedicated to the Lancia Delta lanciadelta.freeforums.org There are a lot of members who have restored their deltas including a couple of Australian members (one in Tasmania?) who may help you with compliance.

Thank you NI - is that where you are?  I think, inasmuch as anyone can be sure confronting Aussie bureaucracy, that intrusion bars won't be necessary, since my car counts as a personal import.  However, I'll check out the forum, as I need all the help I can get!

Good to see that the lanciadelta forum has turned up a lead for you. I have been through my share of compliance issues here in NZ. My car was shipped nearly a year ago and it still isn't quite in my garage.

Norfolk Island have their own compliance regime, though I have no intention of testing that - maximum speed limit 50km/hr and roads not suited to firm suspension.
