Title: Wanted - Beta Hub tool Post by: ah_sprite on 02 March, 2012, 01:25:31 PM Hi all
I'm in search of the tool required in the hub bearing removal process on my Stratos replica (beta hubs/uprights). Does someone have one that I could borrow for a couple of weeks? Regards Richard Title: Re: Wanted - Beta Hub tool Post by: Neil on 02 March, 2012, 02:34:53 PM Richard, have you tried Betaboyz (Tony Harrison) they may be able to help.
Title: Re: Wanted - Beta Hub tool Post by: Charles on 02 March, 2012, 03:37:10 PM On my Beta and Gamma wheel bearing locking rings I just use a flat bar of steel cut to fit exactly into diametrically opposite castellations. I put the steel bar in a large vice and then lower the hub onto it so that the bar engages in the locking ring and then I turn the hub using large stilsons or whatever and usually the ring comes undone. Occasionally, I have to resort to belting the locking ring with a cold chisel and lump hammer.

Afraid I can't post dimensions as my car is still in one piece, but the tool can be seen in this thread. http://www.betaboyz.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=611.0 (http://www.betaboyz.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=611.0) Title: Re: Wanted - Beta Hub tool Post by: TonyLanciaBeta on 02 March, 2012, 08:50:55 PM The tool pictured below, I borrowed from Mark Wastnidge
sadly I/Mark ? lent it to someone and it was not returned :'(, If anyone has one, we would be very interested in borrowing/hiring it with the view to get them re-manufactured. Happy to loan it to whoever needs it. It weighs about a pound and a half so packing and postage would be about £4. Title: Re: Wanted - Beta Hub tool Post by: ben on 08 March, 2012, 11:34:25 PM Seems to have gone a bit quiet on this thread!
Do you still want the tool Richard? Ben Title: Re: Wanted - Beta Hub tool Post by: SanRemo78 on 09 March, 2012, 10:52:15 PM I think Richard has eliminated a failed bearing as the cause of his problem (as posted on at www.stratosec.com ) but it's always useful to know that the special tool is out there and available!
