Title: Solex PHH 45 Carbs for sale on Ebay
Post by: ncundy on 21 November, 2011, 11:11:43 AM
Here's something you don't see very often, a set of Solex PHH45's. Be interesting to see what these get up to.

He says reserve not met, but no reserve listed, could be a steal, but as we do on the sportsmaserati forum, if some one spots them first they get first dibs in case 5 owners off here bid the thing way too high!!!

On that point Neil, do you see any Aurelia carbs up ever?

These don't have the best reputation, the works soon replaced them with Dellorto or Webers and that is what all (most?) modified engines use today. They do have originality and rarity (they are bored 42mm carbs) on their side though which is worth something. I wouldn't be that surprised if they head towards £1000 (I remember a set on a manifold being advertised for ~£5k a couple of years ago, don't think they sold).

I'm probably the wrong person to ask about Aurelia bits. I do see stuff come up but I don't keep an eye on it like I do with Fulvias, nor am I familiar enough with them to sort the wheat from the chaff.

£1000? Are these something other/rarer than the carburettors fitted to production 1600HF (series 2 coupe, Zagato, etc.) engined cars?

There is currently a  dismantled set on eBay also ....

ps Edit - just noticed 42mm vs 45mm. I guess 45s are a rarer earlier type.

The '45's were seemingly only available as part of the v1016 upgrade, as so few of those were made (~100 including the works cars) they are very rare. Also I don't think the 45's were ever officially available from Solex, being a sort of Lancia only solution being modified 42mm carbs, presumably due to the space restrictions and the wish to use the standard manifold which requires the narrower barrel spacing common on smaller carburettors. I know the 42mm carbs were also used on various other cars (Renault Gordini for one) but I've never heard tell of the 45's being used elsewhere.

The more common Solex 45mm carb is the ADDHE type which has a wider barrel spacing (used on BMW's of the era).
