Just occurred to me that it's all gone very quiet on the restoration front lately.

Last post for Neil's Fanalone was in January, likewise for Chugga's Ardea and October 2010 for his Appia Camioncino. December for Harvey's Gamma and April for Richard's Fulvia Berlina.

Don't know about you lot but I'm getting severe withdrawal symptoms and hoping that the lack of posting doesn't signal a cessation of progress.

The rest of life is rather getting in the way.  That should be taken as good news that the family still want my company of a weekend and work is coming in faster than I can get it out.  For body variation 18 (or something) this caught the eye at the Canary Wharf MotorExpo last weekend.  It was on the Jaguard club stand.  Can you imagine that on an Augusta chassis?  Just as one of the variations of course...and keep the bikes in it the rest of the year :)

More good news - I still have the car and its accessible, and still have a workbench I can get to with an Aprilia engine part stripped.  If I could magic up some time I could work on it rather than having to extract it from a lockup jammed so tight you dare not open the door for fear it would never shut again.

Token photo of the "engine bench" - this is July 2010, I now need to take another for a "spot the difference" competition.  The important thing is that its not all in boxes in the loft and the space given over to something else.  Am at least "holding my ground".

Since Christmas I've been working in London on rail franchising but since Miss Villiers cocked up the terms of the ITT, the Government have stopped the competition and pushed it back 12 months giving me my summer back :)

Last weekend I got all the fittings for the drivers door out of the roof and have spent this week sorting, cleaning and repairing. Didn't think it deserved a photo.

well its my turn to give the excuses  ;D , unfortunatly not every car i own is a lancia :-[ , i've had various issues with dare i say it FORDS!! and unfortunatly the more modern of the 2 (2006 focus cdti) has given me nightmares over the last few months resorting to putting a 1992 escort back on the road as it was more reliable!!!! even so that too has given me total headaches with intermittent electrical faults! any one ever says to me about italian electrics again they'll be having a piece of my mind  :D , anyway back to real cars i've had a few issues with the fulvia that i'm slowely sorting out , the final 2 faults totally bizzare 1st being a tyre that only goes flat if you go over 70mph  ??? and just suddenly drops to 8 psi, you can leave the car parked up for months or use locally and it never gives any trouble however on 2 trips to manchester recently both occasions on both return trips this same tyre just goes flat . whats more embarrasing is that owning a tyre depot and fitting tyres every day you would expect that i could solve this problem easily......, im starting to think there must be a fracture in the rim somewhere that only rears its head under "harder" driving , next problem is the brakes, again intermittent but occasionally they will start binding for again no apparent reason, all calipers rebuilt and perfectly free, new pads , new hoses, rebuilt master cyl blah blah blah, the only conclusion that i'm coming to is that the push rod from the servo to the master cyl is too longand that the pistons inside the master cyl arent returning fully we shall see, anyway i have done some work to the ardea but nothing that will interest you at the moment but i do intend to get back on it in the next month or so as soon as i get time,

Is the Fulvia with or without tubes? without tubes possible valve hole in wheel is partly oval/ and at speed the valve is squishing about and letting air out, odd one I know but I had it happen once.

brian you are 100% correct in what you say, the wheels have been done tubeless however the valve hole is near perfect, also when fitting valves to old wheels i always use a thick sealant around the valve to ensure the problem you have described doesnt happen, this is why i'm totally baffled, i fitted another tyre to the same rim yesterday and tried again, fingers crossed it seems fine at the moment but then again so did the old 1!!!, part of the braking problem has been resolved, the inside piston on the n/s/r caliper had started to sieze and rust, this was due to a faulty boot which had a tiny crack in it however this just leaves the problem with the front circuit which i will hopefully cure before the agm weekend, restorations are never finished i totally agree and there is always something to do on an old car, everyone makes mistakes which often rear their head at a later date, i think my problem is too many irons in the fire, at this moment in time i have project wise (on the go as such)

and with all these things going on and trying to run a business sometimes i dont know which way to turn lol  ???

I am determined that both my Gussie and B20 will be completed, my offspring have advised that there is no alternative !!!!!

I am horrified to see that I last posted on the B20 on 7th Nov, a lot has happened on the car since then, all due to Jim and his welder. The problem has simply been that I have not reported on the progress !! I hope to remedy that soon.

However, I have posted this evening, in the 'B20 Story' thread, on a new piece of kit I have purchased, a shell rotator, or rotisserie as some like to term it.

More details in  that thread and more to come when I've fully got to grips with it.
