Title: Lancia Motor Club Tribute at Diane Hilton's Funeral 21/4/2011
Post by: fay66 on 22 April, 2011, 12:25:03 AM
Sadly my wife passed away on the 6th April 2011, Diane was very much a Lancisti and drove our Y10's Dedra's Thema's and Ypsilon Elefantino Rosso; to all intents and purpose the Y10 Fire, 2 of our 5 Dedra's and 1 of our 2 Thema's were her cars over 17 years, as daily drivers to work etc.
She also drove them on the Continent on our various trips abroad.
Although I could never persuade her to drive "Fay" she loved our trips in her.
The highlight of her (and My) Lancia trips was the 2006 Lancia 100 celebrations in Turin, I think everyone who took part would agree that it was a magical week, even if it was "B" Hot!
Diane was a good navigator, but I could never get my head around her need to have the map upside down, and pointing in the direction we were travelling ::)
Diane's Funeral went off very well, and I really must thank the Following LMC contingent who attended in their cars, at my suggestion/request.

Stuart and his new Delta, who set off from Cumbria at 7am arriving at midday after a 300 mile journey.
Robin & Margaret Lacey in Modestine, who had set off from West Sussex at 9am for a 100+ mile journey.
Simon Davis in his Delta HPE, who set off from Bristol at 9am & who picked up John Brain & Chris Hopkins on the way, another 100+mile journey.
While everyone else might have been a little closer, it was a sterling effort that was much appreciated, and while all the cars were admired, I think Robin was lucky to find Modestine still where he left her, as there were a lot of OOOH's & AAAH's flowing about when parked outside the Hilton Garden Hotel Luton, where we went for a drink afterwards.
Geoff & Eileen Johnson in their Fulvia 3, from Hertford.
Peter & June Watcham in their Kappa Coupe, from Harpenden.
Frank & Elspeth Tierney in their Y10, from Shefford.
Martin & Libby Dowling in their Montecarlo, from Tring enroute to Harrogate.
And my Daughter Anna, Son-in Law Andy, and Myself in "Fay" from Luton & Silsoe.
Garry & Louise Peck Cooper were also there, but didn't brIng "Bob" their Fulvia 2 Coupe, but they were most welcome all the same, even if they were Bob less.

I would also like to thank all Lancisti from here and abroad who sent cards or emails of support and sympathy.
Who could ask for better friends.
I'm sure Diane would have been looking down in approval.
