Title: Where to buy Fulvia service items?
Post by: ah_sprite on 03 April, 2011, 10:07:45 AM
Hi all
The restoration on my 75 Fulvia S3 is nearing completion. The car hasn't run for a few years so I'm clearly going to give it a thorough service.
Where do you all source your service parts from? In particular:

- Oil Filter
- HT Leads
- Points, Dizzy cap and condenser
- The car also needs a new coil, does anybody have one hanging around?

Alternatively, do any of you have these items?

Many thanks
Richard

Hi, all these will be available on ebay, and not alot of money, i got my oil filter for the 1600hf from my local unipart factors, and they could probably do the same for the 1300, nothing special about the coil, any non ballast resisted 12v should be fine. hope that helps a bit.

Thanks for the reply.
Does anyone have a part number for a 1.3 S3 Fulvia? Is this different to earlier cars?

With regard to HT leads, the only ones I can find on eBay are £60! Any other ideas as these are a specialist fit aren't they?

Cheers
Richard

Hi Richard,

Why not give Omicron a call - they will almost certainly have all the parts you need.

Tel No: 01508 570351 - Website: www.omicron.uk.com

They also advertise in Viva Lancia!

Regards

Chris

I'm afraid I can't really afford their prices! From what I've read in older posts there are very standard oil filters that can be bought for just a few pounds, as opposed to a much higher figure quoted to me by Omicron!

Hi Richard, if you are not worried about originality, then measure the length of each lead and try a motor factor that sells single leads, or maybe Halfords, hope that helps, Roger

Richard,

Try Magnecor, I have had 2 sets for my Delta. They list sets for a 1600HF using either Ducellier or Marelli Distributor.

If these do not fit the 1300, then they do custom sets made to spec, ie cable lengths and connections.

The Fulvia oil filter is a common size that I believed was fitted also to the popular VW Golf diesel (series 1 and possibly series 2). Take your old one for comparison to the local motor factor. The distributor cap is specific to the Fulvia 1.1-1.3, although I have seen aftermarket caps with different shape and colour fitted with success.
Points are usually available from motor factors. A good, reliable source is Bosch if Marelli ones are not available anymore. The condenser again is not specific to the Fulvia: its rating is 0.25 microF. The rotor arm is a bit more problematic as it has to fit in the square slot of the distributor.
HT leads with the correct Mexican hat insulators are available from e-bay for around 20 pounds.

Hello Richard

Oil filters do seem to vary in price, and it must be something to do with internal flow valves or pressure relief valves - I don't know?   However a local motor factors supplied me with a Mahle OC67 filter at a very reasonable £4.12 + VAT (this was August last year).   Not available off the shelf, but came the next day.   Also Fram PH8A may be available at a reasonable price too?

I know it can be a contentious issue, but don't necessarily be sucked into the carbon fibre HT leads, and some of the expensive types.   I very happily use ordinary copper core items, as originally on home market Fulvias.   Okay, I bought a reel of cable, plus the ends and the pukka crimping tool, but as others have said, any automotive electricians should be able to make them up.   Omicron can now supply new rubbers ends for sealing into the cylinder head holes for about £2 + each.   They seal the cavity and prevent water / grime collecting and shorting the plug.

(This bit is for your eyes only.....    If you are absolutely stuck, I can make you up a set of copper-core leads and ends, with rubber sleeves for the coil end, but do not have for the plug end).

Regards - Roddy

Come on lads it isn't that long ago this was posted, genuine UFI oil filters at something like 1/2 price for the same filter anywhere else.

UFI Oil Filter 23-102-02 £4.50 + Vat for Members £5 + Vat for non members, now have a look elsewhere!

Omicron plug leads approx £12 + VAT for the full set. I couldn't believe it either, but they are the proper items with the proper plug caps and available in original green or in red, which I went for.

Oil filter is indeed common to many cars. Some FX4 taxis, some Nissans, possibly some Rover V8s. Anyway, it's easy to find at a motor factor if you have an existing part number for cross-reference. I'm currently using a Fram one at about a fiver.

Only a small point but if you have a rally tripmeter in the car the the Omcron leads interfer with the electrics. Presumably they do the same with radios

Many thanks for all the replies.
I've got most of the things sorted, many thanks for all the help.

Omicron quoted me £27 for the leads (posted), which isn't _too_ bad, but I can make a set for less than that. It's the Rocker cover plug bits that's got me a bit confused.

Are the plugs that fit into the rocker cover available anywhere? I know that making up leads isn't a problem.

I can confirm Peter is right on this, and I had to resort to carbon string to get my Brantz to work...

Strangely enough my Brantz was playing up until I fitted a set of Omicron leads & I have had no trouble since.
