Title: Y10 Rear Window Motors
Post by: stuwilson128 on 08 March, 2011, 07:31:30 PM
A friend of mine is looking for two rear window motors from a Y10 Touring.  If you have any lying around (or know of somebody that has some), please let me know and I will pass on your contact details.

I wonder if the Fiat Uno's one isn't the same?

Did the 3-door Uno have electric rear windows?  I know that in the Y10 range, it was only the Touring that had electric rear windows.  He is planning to use them to try and make the rear windows in his Beta HPE electric.  If the Uno did have electric rear windows, he may find these easier to find.

Stu

I don't believe that 3dr Uno's had electric rear windows. Nothing mentioned in any of the brochures, nothing mentioned in the handbooks (S1 and S2), and I have never seen them fitted. That applies for Europe, but elsewhere.... who knows!

I thought Y10 Turbo's also had the opening rear windows?

Yes - The last batch of Y10- turbos had the electric rear windows, along with central locking, front electric windows adjustable steering column, split rear seat and alloys. Not many were sold in the UK, as it had taken Lancar ages to sell the original turbos on which they got the spec wrong. (No electrics, no alloys, bench rear seat etc). And then the facelifted range arrived and the GTie replaced turbo :(

Not trying to be smart ...

"But did the 3 dr Uno have rear electric windows?"

Maybe I'm missing something here ... but did the 3 door Uno have rear doors for the electric windows to be fitted in?
I doubt it as by definition a 3 door car won't have rear doors ...?

  ??? ???

The rear windows on the Y10 and I assume the Uno, opened outwards from their front edge on the B pillar, like the 5 door Aygo does today. The motor that Stuart and others are referring to powered the latch. Very cool but I imagine prone to failure!

Just been checking on eper but Y10 and Uno prior to 1998 are not shown,  before this they were on microfich, I've checked my first series Y10 Manual but can't find a picture of them, although I distinctly remember once seeing a picture, They were't even standard on touring but were an option code according to my early sales brochure..

The option pack on the Touring consisted of:

Electric front windows
Electrically opening rear windows
Central locking
Split folding rear seats
Electronic Heater Controls
Full instrumentation and electronic check system.

The other options listed for Touring were metallic paint and a sun roof.

The "standard" Touring was basically the Fire spec, but with the 1050cc engine, alcantara trim and an econometer on the dash.

The original Turbos were basically "Fire" spec, but with full instrumentation and check control system, electronic heater controls, slightly more bolstered front seats, a turbo boost guage and a different steering wheel. The only option listed was metallic paint

Externally the turbo had front fogs, headlamp wipers, deeper front and rear bumpers and lower door and rear quarter side tapes.

And that's from memory having sold them at the time. I won't bore you with Fire LX, Fila etc etc, as they came along later!

Now, where did I put the other anorack ??

And whilst I am being boring on this subject, the electric rear windows were only available (in the UK) on Touring with option pack, and the last Turbos, which as I said in an earlier post all came through with the full electrics kit and alloys.

When Fire LX, and Fila came out (and the facelifterd Y10's followed) the electric rear windows were deleted from the spec, although electric front windows remained.

The specs in the rest of Europe differed from the UK, so I can't comment what was standard or optional elsewhere.

I'll shut up now.

Here are a couple of Y10 pics. The first is a Touring with the full electric options and sunroof that I used to own, scary thing is that this picture is 20 years old! The next is a late Y10 Turbo with all the options on as Andy describes and sunroof, it was owned by Simon Lake at the time. In both pictures you can just about make out the black plastic boxes covering the electric window motors, they are in the center of the window on its rear edge. The window being hinged on the front edge.

These are rarer than rare! The Touring didn't last that long as a Y10 model, and the option pack was expensive so not so many had them. I did have one new in 1986, but its long gone. I have seen Y10 Fire fitted with them, but that was just good old Italians fitting what they had to what they were building!

I've fitted them to the Yntegrale although I don't think both motors work any more - so if a stock of these things appear, I wouldn't mind some too
