Title: What is it? Post by: fay66 on 19 January, 2011, 05:00:53 PM While visiting Turin about 2004 I purchased this book along the Via Po.
It's about building a new road through the Aosta Valley post WW2, it's in Italian only, so I only have a limited knowledge of the text but there are some good pictures. But I'd like to know the model of the Lancia on the front cover, I think it's perhaps a Theta, but the Grille and Lancia badge are unlike anything else I've seen in photos. It appears to be driven by a soldier, but I'd like to know the identity of the car and it's occupants. Brian 8227 8) Title: Re: What is it? However the radiator shape is most unlancia like, possibly changed by a coachbuilder or to make it look more up to date.
I think the car in V-L is a Kappa, never seen a picture of a TriKappa with wooden wheels, all seem to have wires. 1919 also fits as Kappas were introduced in that year and a duke would surely have the latest model. Don Don, Thank you but is it a Tri-Kappa, Kappa or something else, in the Hamlyn book on page 38 it shows something similar with the spotlight? on the left just below the windscreen as in my picture and says 35HP 4 Cylinder? The vehicle in your photo is I am 95% certain a commercial probalbly a Triota. The car in V-L is a Kappa, as is the car top of page 38 in the Autocar book. Both Theta and Kappa were referred to by horse power as 35hp, the major differences being a detachable cylinder head and central gear change on Kappa. Post by: Roland on 28 April, 2011, 10:03:47 PM Don't think this is a Lancia although lamps do seem same as some Lancias, the radiator is not Lancia nor is the badge - I think that name on the radiator is SAURER - a well known Swiss make of cars and commercials from 1896 who after 1917 concentrated on the latter. I have no photos of Saurer trucks : can someone who knows Saurer help?
