Title: Fuel tank filter?
Post by: zagatoman on 14 September, 2010, 05:36:50 PM
On cleaning out my fuel tank on my Fulvia Zagato as it was full of grunge I noticed that the in-tank filter was disintegrating. Should I replace this or take it out and just have my in-line filter?

I think the main purpose of the in tank filler (the mesh pot) is to stop larger pieces of SH1T blocking the tank exit rather than filtering the fuel. I'd be inclined to replace it.

Hi Paul, you can get the mesh of the filter from Omicron, but not the little rubber end caps.  If anyone has these I'd be interested in them too.

In any case, we've also put in an in-line disposable filter in the engine bay near the fuel pump.

Regards,

I found one type of inline cartridge that Guy was talking about to be very near in dimension to the orginal filter and I used this on one of my cars. As it has its own sealing surfaces it fitted with no probs..

I think they sell in packs of 3. If interested I can take a photo and measure next Sunday. I found them by accident/luck in one of these hot motor car accessory shops. But known make...
