Title: Top gear - Reliant Robin
Post by: sparehead3 on 28 June, 2010, 11:14:10 AM
I couldn't help it, I had to watch it : but the reliant robin bit did make me laugh. Good bit of filming though , very well done and serious stunts in there ... I have been in one many years ago and feel very lucky to have survived ... but then I was acting as ballast in the passenger seat :)

On the 15th of June I was sitting in that "reasonably priced" Chevvy until I remembered Simon Cowell had sat there, squirmed, and hopped out again sharpish.  Urrrgg.  Now its no more...  I feel the loss.

Also saw two "top secret" camper vans (they feature on the website and in the magasine preview to the series).  My guess was Captin Slow in the Lotus and Hampster in the Landrover and that for Clarkson "it did not end well".  Either that or he's so fond of it its his "place in town" parked round the back of Broadcasting House.

So why was I there?   The lovely Nissan are struggling to promote their 370Z so are spending daft sums on competition prize winners.   Got a day at Dunsfold for a road drive, "power lapping", and a tyre shredding autotest round cones;  this wednesday a coupe arrives for two weeks; this weekend am at Goodwood and drive up the hill 1ish on Sunday in the convertable.

Website is still live and the guy who's running it told me yet to find their 4th winner so "it could be you".  Not the Goodwood bit but the first fella got a race licence out of it so it would be good.

Top Gear, i sit there thinking it couldn't possibly get better, & yet it continues to. Who thinks of the stuff!! Brilliant writing, hope Clarkson & the boys continue to thrive!

Despite my loathing for Clarkson and all his works, I howled with laughter at the Reliant Robin section, even if the rest was much of the usual, rather tedious and laddish in-jokes.

I wished I'd came across that clod that kept driving the Robin onto it's side.

I'd have turned him on his roof and driven off.  ;D
