Title: Car from South Africa
Post by: fay66 on 29 April, 2010, 08:53:33 AM
Can anyone offer advice on how to bring a car into the UK from South Africa, and what's involved, not for me I hasten to add before anyone thinks I've come into money ;D

Hi Brian,

Try Christo Smal. He brought several cars over from his native SA in 2003.

I can't find any contact details for him but I think he is still a club member. He had a lovely blue lhd 2000 saloon at Covent Garden.

He's also been pretty active on Ebay in the past selling Italian Lancia imports.

Robin.

The easiest (though probably not the cheapest) way would be via a shipping agent. Just Google 'shipping agent South Africa'. If it's a Lancia it's an EU product so there shouldn't be any import duty, just VAT. Probably going to cost in the region of £ 1000 at a guess.

Okay everyone, don't panic, it's only me who prompted Brian's question!  Thanks for posting it Brian.  I'm interested in bringing over my Appia coupe', so I'll ask the Rudlers too.
