Title: warby's doors
Post by: chugga boom on 04 April, 2010, 05:31:50 PM
as you probably know warby is the proud owner of an s3 appia, anyway i bought it on his behalf in 2006 with a view to tidying it up to go to turin in september that yr, however when we started on it we found there was little metal left in most of the exterior panels!! this meant we completly stripped the car back to bare metal and started again with what had already been done, as i had little in the way of spares and matty had none we made do with what we had, the bottoms of 3 of the doors were full of body lead and as time was short and its difficult to weld areas that have been leaded up i re-leaded them and repaired them as a tempory measure to get the car done, since the car was done we have accumilated some 24 appia steel doors  :o and the dreaded tin worm has re-appeared in matty's doors, to keep on top of things warby has been busy bare metaling a pair of doors to do the drivers side 1st on his car, we also intend on changing the rear wings at the same time as i had to make most of the ones that are on his car now + he happens to have got himself a pair of perfect wings now, i'll let matty tell you the story as it continues but someone (me) had to motivate him to post about his work

Good luck! We are just about to get stuck into his engine, so I will have to call and get the bits soon!

Cheers
