Title: any ideas??? Post by: chugga boom on 23 January, 2010, 08:49:16 AM i've been offered a pair of absolutly mint doors and wings for the appia camioncino, however they are in the USA, i tried my usual courier who wern't interested at all in collecting them, i left it with jeff the man in the US to try to sort out shipping, anyway UPS came back with a price of $485 per item to ship to me :o so i'm very open to suggestions to bring the cost down ......RIGHT DOWN!!!, anyone got any ideas or done similar in the past ???
Title: Re: any ideas??? Post by: Tim Ray on 23 January, 2010, 09:18:02 AM The quote from UPS probaly means they will ship by air. Suggest you find a company specialising in sea freight and get quotes from companies based in the UK and USA. Shipping by sea will be much cheaper, albeit longer. Also get them to quote for both doors as 1 item. You should get a door-door (no pun intended!!) quote as there can be several additional costs involved, in addition to the freight costs i.e. packaging of the doors, import duty (based on declared value of goods),custom clearance, UK and USA transport to and from the docks. Also find out where the nearest sea port in the USA that ships to the UK is. If shipped via West Coast allow approx 6 weeks and about 3 weeks from the East Coast.

The chap my son works for sometimes imports hotrods from the states. I will ask if he or anyone he knows is shipping anything in the near future.
