Title: TYRES FOR 2000HF COUPE
Post by: David Bieda on 20 September, 2009, 02:29:26 PM
I have Michelin MXV - no longer available and one burst so I have to get a news spare which will then lead to new tyres.

I do less than 3,000 miles pa and the National Tyre Co near me suggsted Continental ECO 3 88H - anyone got any comments? They are £76 each & they said no point in top of the range ones (e.g. Michelin) given my annual mileage.

i take it these are 175 80 hr 14??? if so price is expensive, i retail this tyre for £64 inc vat valve balance etc, good tyre but a firestone F580 at £45 is a far better buy, firestone are now owned by bridgestone so are top quality, i have had these tryes on my appia for the last 5yrs with no problems, the firestone also has a more traditional tread pattern that looks more "correct" hope this helps james  :)

David

I have been looking at the eco's for one of my fulvias and am almost convinced.

However as James has pointed out you could get Michelin Energy for not a lot more money the you have been quoted for your ecos (if you go some where else like James' tyre place (maybe for the right price you would want to do a trip to Wrexham?!). The Michleing does have an asymetric pattern I beileve and a compliant side wall design to match the Dr Fessia suspension design.

Hello

I am using Michelin Energy 175/80x14 tyres on my 1600HF and have been delighted with them - quiet, comfortable, and more than adequate grip.  They are H rated, but T rated is also available.   They can be sourced/priced on some of the tyre supplier websites.

Regards - Roddy

Thanks for the replies. It says CY ECO CONT 3 88H and I don't know about tyres! I seem to remember that the H is the speed rating?

The advantage is that they are nar me & I guess in central London it's always more expensive. They qupted me £115 for the Michelin Eco tyres which I assume are the replacement for my old Michelin MXV's.

I don't know where you are James? I think they did mention Firestone but I'll ask them about the F580.

And by the way there's no point in my buying from a website as I can't fit them & wheel balance. Also these companies will only fit tyres you buy from them.
