Title: plastic wheel arches
Post by: dhla40 on 09 July, 2009, 05:55:12 PM
Does anyone know the price/availabilty of the plastic wheelarch extensions I have seen fitted to some cars?  I am not too bothered about original items just wondering if anyone has used generic cheap and cheerful ones.

I got mine from Cavaletto, they were about £100 IIRC about 3 years ago.

Thanks for the tip, cannot see any on their site so I have sent an e mail asking for info, what are they like to deal with?

Good, sometimes take a few days to answer, but they take CC's and delivery is timely. They will probably ask what you want, the standard profile or the Grp 4 ones. You don't get the fixings with them so you will have to drill the arch return flange and put some rivets in. Also the originals had some beading fitted (you can just see it in the photo around the area where the plastic arch joins the wing. I haven't looked for that yet but I would start with sealsdirect (http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/index.asp).

I've just had a look in my bills and they were £280  :o Probably even more expensive now because of the exchange rate !

try Roberto at www.Spitline.com. Wheel arches are known as Codolini.

He has or gets gp3 (fitted to my HF) or gp4 which are wilder and wider! three years ago they cost for codolini HF 2^ serie(cod.KPHFM) inclused shipment to UK is Euro 284,50, and for Gr.4 large (cod.KPGR4)is Euro 312,50

You will need to paint them (plastic/grp) and fixing is a bit of an art. I used a thin u section rubber (neoprene) black extrusion to mate these to the body.

Thanks again, spitline seem to be cheapest, looking at the pictures on their site black ones are 290 euro and plain 160.  Think I might wait till beaulieu autojumble and try to find a set of universals like I put on my alfa GTV back in the eighties, think they cost about £10 then ;D
