Title: Headlamp Relay
Post by: Angle Grinder on 30 June, 2009, 08:43:01 AM
Does anyone have any experience of repairing (or attempting to repair) the large Headlamp Relay on a Flavia?

I have yet to take mine apart, but I have seen pictures of a partially dismantled headlamp relay on a website. It appeared to consist of some sort of latching relay at one end, a change-over relay in the middle and a standard on/off relay at the other end.

My problem is that I can switch on dipped beams with the column switch, but the main beams are not coming on.

I don't believe that it is a switch problem as the wiring diagrams suggest that main beam should come on when the column switch is "open circuited", and the dipped beams are operating on the switch OK.

I can hear the relay clicking so it may just be a bad contact for the main beam.
