Title: Standard HF 4WD Delta wanted for magazine article
Post by: fensaddler on 15 June, 2009, 09:35:08 PM
JP Lihou is putting together a group of Deltas for an article (can say more on PM) - mixture of CLS and LMC members cars.  Just missing a good HF 4WD - ie the first 4WD pre-Integrale cars.  If anyone has a good one and can make a Midlands location on 3rd July please contact me, or ring JP direct on 07989 995142 or e-mail jp@lanciasport.com.  Posted in the spirit of entente cordiale between the two clubs!!

I'd heard these were even rarer than ordinary Deltas now. I'd have loved one of them - 4WD and more power, but without the blistered wheel arches and bonnet bulges. Sigh.

I tried one about 12 years ago and, while it went well, it was rather difficult to stop!

9 remaining on LMC's books, many off the road.  So yes, rarer than most - though there are now only 8 GTs and GTie's in the hands of members.  All non-Integrale Deltas are now getting really rare...

Just out of curiosity then, and not wanting to hijack a thread, but how many HF Turbos are about?

I nearly bought a HF 4WD but changed my mind about 3 months ago  :(

No problem Chris.  An HF has been found for the shoot anyway.  LMC have nine in the hands of current members, and many of those appear either to be off the road or in the process of restoration (one or two not far from completion!). I imagine that there will be other known to CLS (though not many) or not on the books of either club.  Compared to Grales and Evos, all other Delta variants appear to be rare - we have 8 1.6s on our books (though there are others about which aren't) and probably fewer 1.3s than that - I know of two good ones in the club, and one is mine.  There are almost certainly only two or three 1.5s left, I'd suggest at most, of which I know of one.  As I have said before  ::), now is the time to get one, because they are going to get seriously rare before too long, and values are already beginning to rise simply on the basis of that rarity.

Would now be a good time to mention the other 2 HF Turbos i have then!? :D

Seriously though one is very rotten and only really good for spares, and the other will probably get turned into a race car when i find the time and money! (I've always fancied a 2wd Delta on track, and i'm in the right industry to do it!)

My Dad owned an E reg HF 4WD - real wolf in sheeps outfit!  Fantastic steering feel and road holding.

Metal work wise they rusted less than later Integrales.
