Title: my aim for 2009
Post by: toby2449 on 11 March, 2009, 02:05:50 PM
...to get my Dedra back in running order.

oh yes my white 1991 Dedra 1.8 SE will be working by the time we hit 2010 (or i'll dismantle it for parts!!!)

first step was i got it towed to our new house
second step, i washed all the muck, & dirt & green sh*t off it!

so, what needs to be done.....well its hard to say as she's not turned over for about a year....so....

* get her to start, could be dead battery, as she doesn't turn over at all!
* get her to stop, i did the brakes about a year ago, bled the whole system etc, but i suspect they've given up the ghost again!
* full service, have all the parts so that'll not be a problem
* need to replace the exhaust as its well & truly had its day!
* all 5 tyres need to be replaced
* the air con system has a mind of its own, ie its turns on & won't turn off, its the digital push button type
* alloys need to be refurbished
* some body panels need attention, but for a 18 year old motor she's looking good
* i suspect some suspension parts need work, i doubt that i'll be so lucky as to get away with the suspension thats on her
* i know this has been brought up before on this forum somewhere, but she does have a hole in both sides of the boot floor, i suspect i can weld these shut?

i'll keep everyone updated on my progress, & include photos where possible

ok so, off to a good start, 02/08/09, she finally starts!!

exhaust now off the car, new flexi unit ordered 04/08/09!

Heating system now up & running (though it was nothing to do with me!) 02/08/09

By the way, i've been on ebay.it, & have seen the revised rear lights for the Dedra i think they look really nice (the same design thats on the Kappa), does anyone know if they'd fit my Dedra??

Yes with a bit of modification to the bodywork. I've seen it done but I'm not sure how, although I understand there were no major problems

Mark,
from what I remember it's nothing serious, unfortunately I can't remember who it was that did the modification to his Dedra, but they looked good.
