If we sell enough of the 'Ted Bates Legacy' book, couldn't the club buy it with all the profit  ;).  I volunteer to give it a home in my garage.......

I wouldn't get too excited, it is based on a S3 Fulvia and is a bit crude around the rear seat area. It was not sold at the Coys Brands Hatch auction. If you really want a F&M special lookalike it HAS to be a 1st series car!

This obsession with originality… drive the cars, enjoy them for what they are meant to be, don't get bogged down with thats not the right year / model… some people really miss the whole point!

What's crude about the rear seat area  ??? I can't see much from the photos.
And what's not original about it, if the description is believed, its is pretty much original. Isn't it?  :D

I saw the car from outside the Coy's tent at Brands Hatch, it looks like later coupe (S3 due to its birth date), less roof and windscreen, with bigger arches, it has not been shortened like a F&M car, at first glance you think it is a F&M or similar but it is not.

Why don't people read anymore?

The seller openly declares this is not a Fiorio and Maglioli built Barchetta, this car was built by tuners Autofficina Petrola, who prepared race cars in the 1970's, notably producing a car winning its class in the 1976 Targa Florio.

This is still an authentic period car specifically built for racing, yes it is not one of the original 3 barchetta's, but could you even buy any of those?

It's one of those things, you would have to see it to see if you like it!!! It might have been done a long time ago but to me it lacked finesse. On the F&M the rear boot lid area finished flush with the end of the cockpit area, on this car they have left the lip at the bottom of the rear window so you can see where the roof has been chopped off, I'm sorry if I offend anyone but it looked a bit amateurish. I'm sure you could do a lot better if you bought your own Fulvia and did it yourself!

Just seen the car (in the flesh, so to speak) at Sherborne's Classics at the Castle show today, and on closer inspection I have to agree with a few previous comments, and also feel the owner is maybe been a little 'enthusiastic' with the asking price!

Interesting show but lacking any real range of cars, I feel they needed a few (make that any…) more Lancia's and Alfa's to liven things up a little!
