Title: A cautionary tale
Post by: impaw on 12 September, 2022, 04:39:34 PM
A tragic tale of an order gone wrong😅
Starring me and a well known supplier of parts for various italian marques.
A.F.R.A

9 july I order a set of .030 main bearings for my Aurelia.

11july, the vendor replies and say «delivery time 10days from order». I agree and pay promptly.

26th july I send the vendor a mail and ask about the order. I am anxious to get the bearings before august, as I know Italy shuts down for vacation that month.

29th no reply yet, so I send another mail.

2nd of august I receive a reply, the vendor says they have a problem with the bearings.
.030 is out of stock, but .040 is available.
I agree to proceed with .040 bearings.

On August the 8th I receive the bearings but they are .020 bearings(!) so of no use to me.
I try to contact the vendor but no reply.
I try a couple of more emails through august, but no reply.

31th august I get a mail from the vendor saying they are sorry for the mixup, but they are not sure if they can get me .040 bearings after all.
So, I ask for a refund.
The vendor promptly sends and DHL courier to pick up the .020 bearings.

6th of september I ask the vendor if they please can refund me. No answer.

9th of september I ask again for a refund, no answer.

The story continues…👎😅
No refund yet

Im not in the habit of outing vendors like this, but this is really frustrating.

By the way, the day the vendor said they could not supply me with the .040 bearings I sent an email to Cavalitto - and I got the bearings via DHL in two days.
Cavalitto is the way to go from now on❤️

I have always tried to use Cavalitto as he has a lot of stuff and generally reliable. Only problem is occasionally there is no reply instead of prompt reply and service. Then I assume he cannot supply the part but whether this is right or wrong I have never found out (obviously!).

Yes, that's my experience as well - the occasional silence.
Other than that, very good.

I still haven't got my funds back from A.F.R.A / lanciavintage.net
..not even a reply.
Very poor service.

Thats a sorry tale Torstein. I have never come across A.F.R.A. lanciavintage.net and I dont recall ever seeing them at any Italian Autojumbles.
The holiday season in Italy finished a couple of weeks ago now so that cant be used by them as an excuse.
Cavalitto is usually my first port of call for mechanical spare parts although for things like door handles, instruments  etc I have come across a couple of smaller operations who do good quality repairs/refurbs.

I ordered a set of points from Vintage net for my B20 (which has two sets of points) they sell platinum points which I am told are the best.
Only one set arrived I contacted them and they a agreed to send me another set with pot joint boot. Which I am having to replace
after only 9,000 miles. There confirmation email was dated the 8th September nothing has  arrived so far.

sorry to hear that Will:(

I have still not received my refund, so this is getting very annoying.
Wonder if there could be an illness or something causing this.

The points arrived today.  The pot joint boot looks better quality than the one that has split and will be on the car tomorrow.

I received the refund today, after pestering them some more.
No explanation or apology for the delay.
Cost me a fair bit in customs handling etc. so a sincere apology would be nice.

Happy to have my money back, but safe to say - its the last time I'll deal with A.F.R.A / lanciavintage.net

allright, onwards with the project  ;)
