Title: Audible indicator alert
Post by: nthomas1 on 31 March, 2022, 04:06:04 PM

As the years advance I get more and more deaf (and, my wife would say, daft).  I'm not even sure whether the Fulvia gives an audible alert - but if it does I can't hear it, and I'd prefer not to just be reliant on the dashboard warning lights.  I am thinking of installing something in my S2 Fulvia that gives a loud audible alert when the indicators are switched on.  There are a number of devices available on the market.  Does anybody have experience of selecting and fitting one?  Or am I the only deaf (and daft) one on here?

I've got one in the Stratos replica Norm. That's noisy inside and it can still be heard over all the engine/exhaust/tyre/wind racket. The standard Lancia one just can't be heard hence the change for me. Plus as the warning light is nearly invisible, tucked away in the lower corner of the Group 4 dash it was a no brainer.

That's interesting Guy.  Can you recall the name of the unit you bought?  And where you got it from?

I have one fitted to my Appia because the self-cancelling facility doesn't work (and I'm deaf and daft!). It was simple to install, probably took no more than five minutes, and it's LOUD!

I can't remember Norm! It was five or six years ago when I did the LHD conversion and it happened then. So many components bought/made that was just one little detail. Sorry!

Great - thanks Mike.  I saw that on Ebay and wondered if it would be any good.  I'll get one.

I bought the audible alert from Ebay that mikeC recommended.  I'm delighted with it, and feel much safer now that I can hear when the indicators in my Fulvia are on.  Easy to install, though I didn't use the scotch clips that it came with, but used conventional male/female connectors instead.

I fed the three wires from the footwell through the bulkhead hole for the speedometer cable.  I earthed the black, and joined one red into the blue wire running to the driver side indicator, and the other into the blue/black wire running to the passenger side. I  screwed the small buzzer unit into the side of the central console, in an unobtrusive location.

A great safety feature in my opinion.
