Title: Monte Carlo seat adjusters
Post by: Dikappa on 08 September, 2021, 06:43:03 PM
Guys, trying to help a friend here in Belgium.

He is restoring a Monte Carlo series II, and is need need of seat adjusters (I thought only one seat was adjustable, and the passenger one fixed, or did that change with the second series?)
Is there a solution for repair or does anyone have spares available?

Many thanks,

Koen

Monte Hospital and the Consortium Forum might be worth a try?

Hello Koen,
I assume you are talking about the control arms for the reclining feature. My Series 2 car has adjusters on both seats, I am sure that all Montecarlos did. If they are bent (as is common) then that is a big problem. Mine had seized up and I managed to dismantle them by carefully drilling a small hole in the plastic shroud so that I could push out the split-pin that holds the arm to the threaded part. I was then able to clean up the threaded part and the mounting part so that the arms rotate again.

Edit:  The adjusters are not "handed" so any unit can be fitted to any seat.
