There is a company in Bridgnorth doing just that and the writer saw an E-type with an electric motor but keeping clutch and gearbox. All conversions apparently reversible.

Not me at about £30k, and my Fulvia wouldn't be the same without its narrow angle V4, so even if I could afford to do this I wouldn't under any circumstances, I'd sooner give her to a museum as a static exhibit.No mention of cost!! Plenty of go and handled OK but sounded like a milk float of course.
