Title: Dunlop rear brake piston and cylinder casing - 1 9/16"
Post by: FERGTS246 on 15 June, 2021, 06:29:15 PM
Hi, Has anyone had to find 1 9/16" Dunlop rear pistons and cylinder casings?
If so, can you tell me were you got them please.

If you couldn't find them, what did you do?
Someone suggested using one 1/1/2" one side of the caliper and a 1 5/8" then other side - seems logical as a last resort?

I understand using 1 1/2" or 1 5/8" on all four positions might have an effect on the braking ability because of a mismatch of the master cylinder fluid capacity and the pressure area of a 1 1/2" or 1 5/8" piston?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thx
Chris

Chris,

I had all four of mine in my Flavia Coupe replaced by Omicron last summer, so they should be able to help. They do an exchange service so you give them your old corroded rusty ones and they give your a bunch of nice newly refurbished ones with stainless liners so you will never have to change them again.

I thought Past Parts also refurbished Dunlop wheel cylinders?

Hi All,
Thanks for you advice. I ended up getting 5/8" pistons/bodies as there was a Moss Europe branch 500 yards away from where the car was up on stands. All okay so far, plus I've got the originals just in case a future owners insists on originality.
