the car is 1989 and highish mileage, over 120,000 miles, no data book with the car.
many thanks in anticipation,

I use Millers CFS 10W60 in my 8-valve integrale.  CFS means Competition Full Synthetic and the wide grade means it doesn't run out of the oil seals too readily.  About 35 for 5 litres, ie, much cheaper than Mobil 1 (don't use the 0W40 grade; it's as runny as water) or Castrol RS which are both about 50.

However, the grade of oil is not really important if the engine hasn't been cared for in the past.

Thank you Neil, that is most helpful :)
we shall soon see how well engine has been cared for, but signs are not good, hence my other post for a replacement engine. I am planning to sprint the car asap.
best regards Keith
