Title: An alternative to the original front seats
Post by: impaw on 03 October, 2020, 07:57:12 PM
Hello
At some point in the future I will try to get my B20 as close to original as possible.
But for now, the cost of getting all the details right is too high.
Therefore I will take some shortcuts to get the car on the road in just 5 years, not 10😂

One of the items I must wait making original are the front seats. They lack a cushion and need complete upholstery.

Are there any budget options out there that might work without being too much of a blasphemy?
Perhaps some retro gt seats can be reminiscent of the corsa seats?
I have seen Flavia seats being used as well...

I liked the early Fulvia seats.  If you want headrests the later ones.  I ended up with race, early and late Fulvia, and the bench to swap about.  Happy days long past...

Thank you for the suggestion!
Fulvia seats are great and show up from time to time in adverts.
I will keep an eye out for a pair!

I have a pair of nice black bucket seats with runners in our 4th series B20 which will be available at the end of this year when it goes to be retrimmed (with the original bench seats) and repainted.
Photos to follow in a day or two.
Chris

This is a nice video:

...in Swedish though, you have been warned.

The man has owned his B20 from almost new.
And, it has been he daily driver it seems.
He has done some modifications over the years, and because he has lived with and loved this car for over 50 years, I think he is allowed to modify it :)
He tossed out the whole parking brake lever mechanisms, and fitted a handbrake lever from an MG between the seats.
The seats are from a Volvo P1800. Perhaps not the prettiest of seats, but they look comfortable

Apologies in advance for butting into this, but does anyone have a suggestion for alternative front seats for an S1 Appia?

Would Flaminia seats fit an Aurelia, or are they too wide?
A nice pair here:

It might be worth trying Thornley Kelham to see if they have a pair. They have fitted replica PF bucket seats to quite a few B20s (including 'Outlaws').
